In a musical world that’s super saturated – where scenes splinter off every five seconds and a million subscribers aren’t far behind – jocks like Matt are a veritable gem. These are DJs that don’t imitate or follow the herd, but instead concentrate on using their musical influences to inform a sound all of their own – one that’s unique and happy to sidestep the pittfalls of buying into hype.

In terms of sound – Disco, house and techno will (in some way, shape, or form) always feature in Matt’s sets; the way he binds and sequences records is so painstaking, it matters not how many pots he’s dipping into, as total sense is made every time. Sure he will lean in different directions dependant on the situation – but every time it sounds like Matt – and that’s a pretty strong attribute to have in 2010.
